From the winter of 2006

10 years ago, we visited an elderly (now deceased) cousin of my Grandmother in Rockport, IN; the town is nestled in a bend of the Ohio River. Lincoln once lived near this village, where some of my ancestors settled after arriving from Germany about 1860. Just in time for our Civil War.

No, this double size log cabin in not a family home. I wish. The town has a "pioneer park" where derelict cabins were moved and preserved. This design is a classic Kentucky settlers' cabin complete with the open-air "dog trot" feature.
